كجزء من زيارته لتونس، قام الجنرال لانجلي بوضع إكليل من الزهور في المقبرة الأمريكية بشمال إفريقيا في مدينة قرطاج وهي المثوى الأخير لـ 2841 جنديًا أمريكيًا ضحوا بحياتهم في الحرب العالمية الثانية.
والتقى الجنرال لانجلي أيضا بالجنود الأمريكيين على متن السفينة U.S.N.S Trenton الراسية حاليًا في ميناء حلق الوادي.
وقد أكد الجنرال مايكل لانجلي أن "تونس شريك بحري مهم في تعزيز الاستقرار الإقليمي في البحر الأبيض المتوسط وفي جميع أنحاء إفريقيا". وأضاف "أسفرت هذه الزيارة عن مناقشات مثمرة حول الفرص المستقبلية للعمل المشترك بين قواتنا البحرية ومنحتني نظرة ثاقبة إضافية حول كيفية استمرار AFRICOM في دعم الحلول التي تقودها إفريقيا لهذه القضايا البحرية العابرة للحدود."

On his first visit to North Africa since taking command of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), General Michael Langley visited Tunisia October 18-19. During his visit, General Langley and Chargée d’Affaires, a.i. Natasha Franceschi met with Minister of National Defense Imed Memmiche to underscore the importance of the U.S.-Tunisia longstanding military partnership and participated in a roundtable with Tunisian Service Chiefs.
On his first visit to North Africa since taking command of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), General Michael Langley visited Tunisia October 18-19. During his visit, General Langley and Chargée d’Affaires, a.i. Natasha Franceschi met with Minister of National Defense Imed Memmiche to underscore the importance of the U.S.-Tunisia longstanding military partnership and participated in a roundtable with Tunisian Service Chiefs.
As part of his visit to Tunisia, General Langley also laid a wreath at the North Africa American Cemetery and Memorial in Carthage, the final resting place for 2,841 American soldiers who served during World War II.
General Langley also met with American servicemen and women aboard the U.S.N.S. Trenton which is currently at port at La Goulette Pier.
"Tunisia is a critical maritime partner in promoting regional stability in the Mediterranean, and throughout Africa. This visit has yielded productive discussions on future opportunities for interoperability between our maritime forces, and given me additional insight on how AFRICOM can continue supporting African-led solutions to these transnational maritime issues." said Gen. Michael Langley.
